Project: Environmental Assessment
Client: Bangor Hydro Electric Facilities, ME
Epsilon conducted environmental assessments at all of the Bangor Hydro Electric substations and maintenance facilities to evaluate stormwater management issues, wastewater management practices and waste management. Detailed long and short term action plans were developed and are being implemented.

Project: Wetlands Permitting at Existing Substation
Client: Middleboro Gas & Electric Department, Middleboro, MA
Epsilon delineated wetland resources, prepared a Notice of Intent and made presentations at public hearings for the upgrade of an existing substation. Work included installation of a new transformer and repositioning an existing transformer, connecting transmission lines and supporting structures. In conjunction with this effort, a full subsurface oil containment system was constructed.
Project: Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures Plan Update, Multiple Facilities
Client: Ipswich Municipal Light Department
In accordance with Federal regulations 40 CFR 112, Epsilon updated the Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures (SPCC) Plan for Ipswich Municipal’s power plant, oil storage facilities and existing transformers. Epsilon also prepared the wetlands permits for substation upgrades.

Project: Industrial Park Substation & Distribution Line
Client: NSTAR, New Bedford, MA
Epsilon delineated wetlands and prepared a Notice of Intent for work initiating at the existing NSTAR Industrial Park Substation. The project included a second set of electric distribution poles and ancillary equipment along the existing right of way. The project will increase NSTAR’s electric supply capacity into the New Bedford Business Park.
Project: New Switching Station and Upgrades to Existing Substations for New 18-mile, 345 kV Underground Transmission Line
Client: NSTAR, Boston and Stoughton, MA
Epsilon is responsible for the state and local permitting of a new 345 kV switching station on a 14-acre site in Stoughton, MA. The new switching station allows an existing 345 kV line to supply three new underground 345 kV circuits which extend into the City of Boston area. Two existing substations (K Street, Hyde Park) in the City of Boston have been expanded to connect the new underground lines to the existing 115 kV system in Boston.  Phase 1 of this project went into operation in summer, 2006.

Project: Substation Upgrade
Client: Rowley Municipal Lighting Plant, Rowley, MA
Epsilon delineated wetland resources, prepared a Notice of Intent and made presentations at public hearings for the upgrade of an existing substation. Work included installation of a new transformer and repositioning an existing transformer, connecting transmission lines and supporting structures. In conjunction with this effort, a full subsurface oil containment system was constructed.

Project: Electric Transformer Replacement Project
Client: Wakefield Municipal Gas & Light Department, Wakefield, MA
Epsilon delineated wetlands, prepared a Notice of Intent and represented the client at the Town of Wakefield Conservation Commission hearing for replacement of existing transformer with a new larger unit. In conjunction with this effort, the existing subsurface oil containment system was upgraded to meet current best management practices and industry standards.
