Epsilon is providing local, state, and federal environmental permitting services for this innovative site remediation project, which involves evaluating various capping and/or disposal alternatives to contain coal tar contaminated sediments.  Epsilon prepared permit applications for a Pilot Study and worked with the project team to assess various alternative solutions to achieve the proposed remediation.  Extensive noise and air background monitoring was performed as part of the study.  Epsilon is now preparing a MEPA Environmental Notification Form for the selected alternative, which proposes dredging contaminated sediments and disposing of them at an offsite upland disposal facility and in a Confined Disposal Facility (CDF) on the project shoreline.

Epsilon developed and implemented Tier II and III Sediment Sampling and Analysis Plans for dredging associated with Sithe's 750 MW Fore River Power Station.  The work included a field program to collect and characterize sediment cores.  The information was used to support permit applications to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, MA Department of Environmental Protection for Water Quality Certification, and Coastal Zone Management Consistency Certification.

Epsilon has developed and implemented Tier II and III Sediment Sampling and Analysis Plans for a proposed 2.6 million cubic yard dredging program associated with siting a Liquefied Natural Gas facility in Fall River.  This work included scoping and overseeing the sediment core collection program, characterizing the cores, preparing samples for laboratory analysis and analyzing chemical, physical and biological results.  Resulting information was use for Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and the Massachusetts Environmental Policy Act (MEPA) review processes.  Permit applications have also been filed with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Massachusetts and Rhode Island state agencies.
