Client: Newton Parks and Recreation Department
Epsilon assisted the Newton Parks and Recreation Department by providing wetland consulting and permitting services for improvements at the Crystal Lake bathing beach and bathhouse located on Rogers Street in Newton, MA.  These improvements included but were not limited to the use of a water circulation system, beach nourishment activities and the installation of a float system.
At the request of the DEP, Epsilon implemented a field monitoring program designed to measure current velocity and suspended sediment distribution associated with the operation of the water circulation system.  Epsilon collected approximately 30 to 60 water samples and current velocity measurements at 10 locations adjacent to the bathing beach.  Samples were collected along two shore parallel sampling transects.  Water samples collected by Epsilon were also forwarded to a state certified laboratory for total suspended sediment (TSS) analysis.
