AMWS Annual Meeting
November 6, 2013
The Association of Massachusetts Wetland Scientists (AMWS) will be hosting a half-day workshop on November 15, in Ashland, MA. The workshop will cover issues related to dam removal and wetland restoration within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Speakers from the Massachusetts Division of Ecological Restoration as well as non-profit and private organizations will give an overview of the process of dam removal and wetland restoration. Topics include the functions, values, and habitat associated with riverine and floodplain wetlands; sediment management; and dealing with pollutants. The workshop will also include examples from recent projects involving riparian forest restoration, Natural Heritage-listed species, and other unique constraints and opportunities.
Mike Howard, Principal and Manager of the Ecological Sciences Group at Epsilon, currently serves on the AMWS Board of Directors as Treasurer. He and his colleagues from Epsilon’s Ecological Sciences group will be attending the workshop. For more information on this workshop, visit the AMWS website.
