BRA Adopts New Climate Change Guidelines
November 22, 2013
On November 14, 2013, the Boston Redevelopment Authority (BRA) adopted a new Climate Change Preparedness and Resiliency policy. The new policy requires large project developers to submit a completed Climate Change Preparedness and Resiliency Checklist and describe what climate change impacts a project is susceptible to and how the project will adapt to those impacts as part of their Article 80 review process. These include potential flooding, heat waves, and other anticipated effects of climate change.
The new policy aims to ensure that Boston will be prepared for the increased likelihood of flooding and other disasters related to rising sea levels and wide temperature fluctuations.
