On May 19, Vineyard Wind received the much-anticipated final Outer Continental Shelf Air Permit for their offshore wind project — the first large-scale, offshore wind project in the United States. The 800-MW Vineyard Wind 1 project will create 3,600 jobs and provide enough power for 400,000 homes and businesses.
This first-of-its-kind permit is a significant milestone for the Vineyard Wind project. Epsilon's air quality team successfully managed the air permit process, which was a cooperative effort that involved collaboration among numerous agencies over the past few years as well as a significant air dispersion modeling effort, leading to this Final Outer Continental Shelf Air Permit.
Epsilon continues to work closely with the Vineyard Wind team to ensure compliance with the air permit. We are excited to see this project moving forward and to have played a role in bringing this new source of renewable energy to New England.
