The Economics of Historic Preservation

April 27, 2017

Epsilon is pleased to sponsor the 32nd Annual Rhode Island Statewide Historic Preservation Conference, The Economics of Historic Preservation. The conference is Saturday, April 29, 2017 and sessions will be held at the Watch Hill Chapel, Ocean House, and One Bay Street Center.

About the Conference

Rhode Island’s 32nd Annual Statewide Historic Preservation Conference travels to Watch Hill to consider the Economics of Historic Preservation. With its turn-of-the-century cottage colony, commercial corridor, conservation land, and celebrated landmarks, Watch Hill is a distinctive seaside community. Historic preservation is essential to its sense of place and to its bottom line.

Conference locations include the Watch Hill Chapel, Ocean House, and One Bay Street at the recently rehabbed Lanphear Livery Stable. Explore historic Watch Hill on foot, from the Lighthouse to the Ocean House, the Flying Horse Carousel to the summer cottages perched on the bluffs. Take a cruise up the Pawcatuck River or by Napatree Point. And visit exciting projects and special places, from the United Theatre and Grey Sail Brewing in Westerly to the villages of Quononchontaug and Cross Mills in Charlestown.

This Conference is a gathering for anyone involved in preservation and community revitalization. Who attends? Grassroots preservationists in villages, rural towns, and cities throughout Rhode Island and the region; professionals working in the field or allied fields (architects, planners, landscape architects, developers, curators, etc.); elected officials and municipal board members; advocates and activists; students and teachers; and you.
